Hi, I’m Dani Salvado.

I’m Dani Salvado, Functional Nutrition Counselor, I help active adults navigate their diet to promote performance and address digestive issues, autoimmune diseases, and chronic conditions.

Life story matters. We all have one that brings us to where we are in life right now. I didn’t get to be a nutrition counselor just because, as much as you’re not here just because. You’re looking for something too. Allow me to tell you about my story… It didn’t take long for me to get out there and seek adventures somewhere I would feel more like myself. In my case, I had to be near nature, the ocean, or the mountains, where I feel more connected to my mind and my body. I’ve met incredible humans and places on my journey, and along the way I’ve learned that curiosity and challenges are some of my big motivators. Curiosity keeps things interesting and physical and mental challenges motivate me to reach my goals. I bet you have challenges that motivate you too. But let me rewind a little and tell you how I got to be who I am…

Q&A: Know more about the Functional Nutrition Program

What is Functional Nutrition?

By definition, functional is: “designed to be practical and useful, rather than attractive”. And nutrition: “the branch of science that deals with nutrients and nutrition, particularly in humans”. Functional nutrition takes the whole individual (health history, genetics, body systems, habits, needs, goals) into consideration and a systems-based approach to recommend diet and lifestyle modifications in order to address the root cause of a health issue, instead of looking only at the symptoms.

Who is the Nutrition Counseling Program for?

If you are an active adult who exercises purposefully, holds a full-time job, and faces underlying health concerns such as digestive issues, arthritis, or autoimmune diseases, I’m here for you. You might struggle with managing your diet amidst your active, social, and professional life, as well as coping with occasional health flare-ups. You are interested in improving your everyday diet and meal-prepping skills and seek guidance to make informed food choices. You want to manage your health concerns and enhance both physical and cognitive performance through dietary and lifestyle adjustments.

 

What is the Health History Session like?

It’s an in depth intake process done over an 1 hour online session and with the completed intake form by you, in order to capture details of one’s health history. I’ll ask questions and clarifications on informations provided in the intake form and on pertinent subjectives related to your unique story.

What is the Counseling Session like?

It’s an 1 hour online session where your concerns will be addressed through nutrition and lifestyle recommendations. You ask the questions! After our session, you’ll receive an Action Form containing a summary of the recommendations, which includes up to 10 items to be implemented in your nutrition and lifestyle habits. All recommendations are made based on your concerns, unique biology, and health history assessed over the course of the program.

What does a nutrition counselor do?

I assess your health, track and recommend diet and lifestyle modifications. I do not diagnose health diseases and prescribe drugs. Although, I can support you on your health issue diagnosed by a medical doctor, working as part of your network support to improve your diet and lifestyle in order to manage the issue. Recommendations include modifications related to sleep hygiene, nutrients intake, exercise, supplementation, depending on your unique biological individuality and concerns.

How long does it take to see the benefits and improvements of a better diet and lifestyle?

It depends. Everyone is different, we all respond differently to modifications in diet and lifestyle. In certain cases a further investigation and the use of lab tests and other tools to assess your health might be necessary.

How many Follow Up Sessions do I need?

You will get one follow up session with the “Get Started”. After that it’s your choice to continue with the follow up sessions or not. I’m happy to be part of you journey to wellness if you decide to have me on board.
